I have a campaign idea that I really like. However I doubt I'll ever run it because it is high-concept, rather dark and tricky. So I'm sharing it in the hope that it will help other people and gather enough interest that I can at least make a setting book. The information below is what I would present to potential players in a pitch, I do have answers to some of the questions and the characters may not be initially aware of certain things.
Basically the premise is that after a Digimon Incursion in the Real World (dealt by 'real' Tamers), a research and develop project on the DigiWorld is set up. Several different ideas were explored and discarded, including such as retro-engineering a Digivice, (the Tamers would part with them). Of course there was some disagreements on the nature and lengths the research should go to.
This led to some unauthorised 'off-shoot' projects. This facility manages to develop 'DAP'1 technology by adapting the latest VR technology with their research. If it works, humans should be able to send their minds to the DigiWorld. Some children were selected for the secondary trails (the ones with the adults did not go well). A 15 minute automatic 'log off/shut down' protocol had been put in place to prevent 'unnecessary risks'.
Naturally things go wrong. Maybe it was a power surge, a programming error or even a digimon interfering but whatever it was you are stuck in the digital world...and your 'mental program' isn't stable. In fact, those familiar with computers would say that your 'file' is 'corrupted'. You need semi-regular 'software patches' which you get from 'consuming the world-code' corrupting/destroying the rendered environment or Digimon. Upside is you can use this data to 'upgrade' yourself as a Digimon.
Basically everyone will think you are playing the bad guys.

Campaign Notes:
- No Digimon Partners – Instead you will be using the 'Hybrid Digievolution' option, including the Bonus Simple Action. Dark Area/Nightmare Soldier/Unknown Family &/or Virus Type Custom Digimon Forms recommended.
- Not the first humans to come through in recent times but your 'data-form' marks you as wrong. Those who have met humans before think you are some kind of fake as do most high-Brains Digimon. They will react to you similarly to a Victorian Era gentleman would a real zombie. You can fool some Digimon though but be aware that you are starting from a social disadvantage with the people most likely to have the information/authority to help you.
- Going without Consuming WC for too long causes nausea, skill penalties, pain & even Wounds. All of which disappears immediately after you Consume something.
- You do have an item similar to a Digivice based on the interface for the DAP* technology but it too is 'gliched' and is also clearly not what the other Tamers used. It has the equivalent of the Card Reader & Data Scanner traits. It's actual design included a 'log out' button and a Skype-ish Communication system but it has been damaged by whatever is making you 'glitch'.
- 'Card Reader' uses Consumed World-Code as 'currency'; which effect each WC has can be determined by the Data Scanner. 'Destroy' the digital world for more power!
- Higher starting Trauma is recommended; children being used as test subjects for an unauthorised & risky experiment probably didn't have perfect lives. Something like 2 Major or 1 Minor & 1 Terriable Traumas. Please check with everyone that you aren't going to trigger rule world issues.
