A campaign with very little effort put into the setting in order to playtest the system, particularly DNA/Jogres Evolution, while I save money for a new Adobe CC Sub to further edit the PDF.
Currently has: 1 Player.
Want: At least one more Player, no more than three more Players.
Intended method of play: Roll20.net, Skype Calls
Intended time: Sunday Afternoons (between 1PM and 3PM CST Starting Time)
Intended setting/tone: semi-dark urban mystery. With dinosaurs.
Setting information.
The Human World: Essentially the same as current. The game will take place in a fake city; Linkton. Linkton City is fairly well-developed, but does have its fair share of problems as per normal with a big city. Players may not have to live directly in the city itself, but should probably be able to bike there within an hour from where they live.
The Digital World: to make things simple we'll be using the Adventure map. The Digital World sports a fair amount of civilized areas, but also its fair share of terrifying wild areas. Be careful while traversing this hostile territory!
Age Range: either Kid or Teenager sheets. Characters should preferably be age 8 to 15.
Digimon Partners: simply ask for GM approval to talk over stages and potential Dark Evolutions. Once the group is established, we may discuss potential Jogres Partners and Stages. This however will not be happening until later in the game.
Disclaimer: TN's will be adjusted based on the situation. That said: TN's are there to help create interesting stories, not to try to limit a character. This setting may have dark moments but character deaths are not on the agenda, don't worry. Digimon may maintain Champion as their Default Stage if they obtain 15 or more Bonus DP, however they have to have unlocked the Champion Stage to before this change happens.
Disclaimer 2: If the GM decides to override mechanics as they see fit, the GM reserves that right for the sake of creating a good story.
In-Training: Starting Stage. In-Training and below are available by default.
Rookie: Obtained Session 1, Default Stage after.
Champion: Requires a bit more effort to obtain and easily retain, basic Adventure rules using a combination of the character's determination and the current danger level. Later on Champion will be simple to utilize. Willpower TN 15+ to utilize, -3 to the TN after each successful use after until it hits 0. Forcefully willing a Digimon to the Champion, Ultimate, or higher stages before it is obtained the first time will result in the Evolution backfiring in some way.
Ultimate: Significant effort will be put towards obtaining an Ultimate stage. Expect at least one session dedicated to character progression in order to obtain this stage. Willpower TN 30+ to utilize at first, -3 to the TN for each successful use after until it hits 0. Ultimate Level Digimon are awakened through a character realizing something about themselves, and making an effort to either bring the positive parts out, or to change themselves for the better. Choose a character trait to work on, preferably. Critically Failing a Willpower TN of the Ultimate Stage will result in Dark Evolution and a Torment/Sanity Check as is deemed appropriate for the situation.
Mega+: Partner Digimon are unable to obtain the Mega, Burst, or Burst+ Stages on their own. They will have to Jogres in order to progress to these Stages. Tamers will have to be in synch (TN 30+ Willpower check for both parties the first time, -6 for each successful Jogres), or it will fail. If the Tamers are subjected to a Sanity or Torment check and fail, the Jogres Stage will fall apart.
Digimon will cause technological and data-based, and possibly electrical failures in a radius based on their Stage: more powerful Digimon create a more powerful disturbance. This includes Partner Digimon: be careful picking a Champion default stage: as it'll make it hard to get work done! If the Digimon is a Partner Digimon: after the initial burst of energy disappears the radius will go down to the same level as the previous stage, not wanting to harm people but unable to entirely keep the destructive aura in check.
Fresh: must be touching an appliance to cause failure.
In-Training: approximately one inch radius.
Rookie: approximately a meter.
Champion: approximately ten meters.
Ultimate: approximately a city block: may be bigger depending on the power.
Mega: multiple sections of the city will go dark.
Burst+: the entire city, if not multiple cities or even the entire planet may lose power depending on the level of power.
Digi-Gates: Tears between the Digital World and the Human are opening up without reason, releasing destructive Digimon into the Human World. Once the Digimon is defeated, the Tamers may use their Digivices to repair the tear in reality. Doing so however causes a 'reset', where the Digital World and Human World revert to a point in time just before the Digi-Gate opened, only the Tamers and Partner Digimon retaining their memories. This can be both a blessing and a curse: if the time the gate was open had anything significant happen, positive or negative, it will go back to how it was before. However this can sometimes work in reverse: if a Human falls into the Digital World, the team may find out, and have to go in and rescue them!
Digivice Design
Storage Device: the Digivices will be able to store Partner Digimon. Doing so will allow for easier travel and will reduce the Aura down to the Fresh radius. However, it's a Simple Action while in Combat to return and release your Digimon.
Digi-Gate: The Digivice may close Digi-Gates, but may also create one akin to Adventure 02, at a computer terminal nearby. Where the gate opens up is entirely random, however.
Minimap: Shows a basic topographical map of the area, with blips and arrows on the screen to show other nearby Digivices.
Gear: if required, it will be talked about with the GM.
Starting scene: characters will meet at a city park near sundown, whether they got there by accident, to meet a friend, or they all know each other from somewhere: all that matters is they meet at the park somehow.

Digital World History/Game Backstory (may be considered Spoilers! proceed at your own risk!)
{Spoiler}The Digital World is as old as the Human World; according to some legends they split from the same world, into two, as was willed by the powerful god-being, Yggdrasil in order to cease the constant battles between Digimon and Humans. Instead of cooperating as the deity wished, they instead turned on each other. As such, Yggdrasil split the two worlds, separating them forever. However, some remnants of each world were lost in the other; as such Humans have strange tales of terrifying, fantastic beasts, and Digimon have tales of powerful warriors and even know of some human philosophy and culture (although this view is generally skewed). The split was not clean, as one would imagine, and tears between worlds have popped up now and again, but always seemed to fix themselves. Wishing to keep watch over the apparently more powerful half of the spectrum, Yggdrasil took refuge in the Digital World as the split happened, leaving the Humans to fend for themselves.
However, entirely on accident it seems, the worlds became linked once more. With the advent of the Computer, and more specifically, the Internet, the Digital World and Human World were linked once more, without Yggdrasil's blessing. Unknown to Humans, the link seemed to create unneeded chaos as data was streamed into the Digital World, creating strife and resentment towards Humans. Digimon who find a Digi-Gate, as such, are often more than eager to cause a bit of havoc in return for the losses they've experienced. Some Digimon have even prepared for a crusade against the Human world: wanting revenge for the wrongs committed. Most Digimon, however, do not know that the majority of Humans have no idea what's going on, to their knowledge the destruction of the Digital World is entirely on purpose!
But powers besides Yggdrasil still took pity on the Humans, and released a small number of Digivices, and partner Digimon, into the Human World, in hopes that they could both defend themselves, and perhaps cause a miracle; peace between two worlds.
A few Humans outside of the "Digidestined" may know of the Gates and the problems; however those who do range between government agents wanting to keep things covered, and crazy crackpots that no one would believe anyways.
